Empower SLC and UCAIR are providing a huge discount on energy saving smart thermostats for Salt Lake City residents. Now through August 5, 2019, you can get over $100 off a Nest Thermostat E!Why a smart thermostat discount?
Unlike conventional thermostats, smart thermostats make it simple to save energy on heating and cooling costs. A Nest Thermostat E also cuts heating bills by 10% to 12% and cooling bills by 15%. This is equivalent to an average savings of $131 to $145 a year! (source) By being energy efficient, you can save money and help clean Utah’s wintertime air by reducing NOx emissions that come from natural gas combustion at home. Cutting electricity use also helps the Salt Lake City community achieve its goal to cut emissions by 80% and transition to 100% renewable energy.Eligibility
- Selected participants must ensure that the Nest Thermostat E is compatible with their heating and cooling system
- Must be 18 years or older
- Must be a resident of ZIP code 84116 or 84104

Important dates
- Application opens Monday, June 17
- Application closes Monday, August 5
- Participants can pick up their smart thermostats at Sorenson Unity Center (1383 South 900 West Salt Lake City, UT 84104) on one of the following dates:
- Thursday, July 11 from 5:30pm-7:30pm
- Saturday, July 20 from 10am-12pm
- Saturday, August 17 from 10am-12pm
- Participants who choose to have their thermostats mailed, and shipments will be mailed on the following dates:
- Friday, July 26
- Friday, August 16
Steps to participate
- Find out if your home’s heating and cooling systems are compatible with the Nest E
- Sign up online to purchase your smart thermostat
- Pick-up your smart thermostat at the Sorenson Unity Center OR we will mail it to you for a nominal shipping fee.
- Install your smart thermostat to start saving energy and cleaning Utah’s air!
- Take a picture of your new smart thermostat (and your old one too) and tag #EmpowerSLC and #showUCAIR to show your commitment to energy conservation and clean air!
